1 bet, 1 Spin; everything to be decided by the roulette wheel!
Step forward Andy Revell. A fearless gambler who wanted the thrill of his life- and he sure got it on the roulette wheel. In 2004, Andy Revell, a Londoner, sold everything he owned- his clothes, property, car- literally every last thing he owned. Why? To place everything on one spin of the roulette wheel! One single spin gambling everything he had ever owned and worked for- for the chance to double it and win big!
Having travelled to Las Vegas, Andy made his way to the Plaza Hotel, accompanied with US$135,300 ready for the thrill of his life. Andy rented a tuxedo, but started off with small outside table bets, taking his time to find the right moment to present itself.
The time had come, the croupier had explained the roulette rules, the wheel was spinning and Andy placed everything all on RED. No more bets is called, the crowd are amassed, some cant look, some cheering, some willing the ball to land in red-, Andy looks on nervously yet excited, everything he owned is riding on this spin! The ball takes a lot bounces off the slots, will it ever land- where is it going to land?? The ball settles…….. RED 7! Andy sees the results and roars in delight, relief, euphoria! The crowd go crazy and the scenes at the casino were of sheer ecstasy. Andy Revell had just won US$270,600.
Andy, who was understandably elated said, “ “It all happened so quickly, it was spinning before I knew it, I gave US$600 tip to the croupier and I plan to party and buy some new clothes”.

Mobile Casino gambling is booming! The latest figures reveal that mFortune players won an astonishing £10m+ in the last 30 days and it won’t be too long before the £15m a month mark is smashed. But how is this being won? Is it pure luck, strategy, or a bit of both? In this article, we examine the game of roulette and some of the most popular roulette systems used by mobile roulette players.
Roulette is pretty straightforward; 37 numbers- spin the wheel and simply pick the number the ball will land in on the roulette wheel. Aside from a single number, you may also place bets a range of other outside table options, i.e. colour, high or low, odd or even etc. Simple stuff you may agree? Seasoned players may disagree! Roulette is a haven for systems and strategies with players seeking to get that upper edge; every system has its unique traits and exciting components of luck, or ‘ability and method’ as system players may argue.
Roulette System – Progression Probability Betting
Overview- Increasing bets proportionately after a series of results. Method- Place 1 chip on red and 1 chip on black and record the numbers of 5 results. Players are looking for section patterns of where the ball lands. Excluding zero, the ball can only land in one of the following sections: 1-12, 13-24, 25-36. When a section goes without 1 hit in 5 results, a player then starts this Progression Probability Betting by increasing their stake each time until the section they are betting on takes a hit. For example, if the results were 1, 6, 12, 13, 22, a player then starts betting on section 25-36, increasing their bet proportionately to make a profit and cover the previous bet until the result hits the 25-36 section. The logic behind this system is historical probability and the notion- “it hasn’t come out in 5 results so it must be due”. One the one hand, there is strong mathematical logic in this roulette system, if you consider a set of historical results. However, each spin is unique and probability does not account for historical or past results when the roulette ball is spun. Hence, every single time the ball is spun; it has exactly a 12/37, or roughly a 1 in 3 chance of hitting the 25-36 section.
mFortune view:
For- It’s a very popular system which attracts a lot of loyal supporters.
Against- The odds of the roulette ball hitting one section are exactly the same on every spin, regardless if the previous 100 results did not hit one particular section of the wheel. The roulette wheel has no memory.
Roulette System – Sleeping Martingale
Overview- Doubling your last bet until the player hits the result. Method- A player typically plays both red and black until a number of results appear in sequences that are the same colour. This could be as little as 1 result, or perhaps more likely to be 3-5 reds ‘in a row’- i.e. the last 5 roulette wheel results – red, red, red, red, red. The player then places a bet on the opposite colour (black in this example) and continues doubling their bet until the black number is drawn. For example, if a player loses, they double their bet. If the player loses again, they again double their bet. The player continues to do this until they win and then go back to their original bet. The sleeping martingale roulette system has been used by players for years and generally players can and do win when playing this system. However, this roulette system does have its limitations and is not for the faint hearted. Imagine betting for the 6th or 10th time in the sequence? Players usually need to have, or be prepared to have a high bankroll for the sleeping martingale system to work. Again, similar to the above progression probability betting system, the Sleeping Martingale system is based on probability and maths logic, but is a much steeper scale of betting. The odds of a red or black coming out remain exactly the same odds each and every spin and anomalies can occur.
mFortune view: For- It is one of the most played systems which attracts a lot of high rollers Against- It is not for the faint hearted! Huge wins (and losses) can be won or lost very quickly by players using this system.
Roulette System- D’Alembert System
Overview: A pyramid roulette system for the patient player. The roulette pyramid system is another system pinned on arguably more gambling psychology than mathematical logic. The logic underpinning the system is that if you win on 1 roulette spin, you are less likely to win on the next and should therefore reduce your bets to avoid losing as much money. On the same rule of thumb, a player should increase their bet after a losing spin, on the logic they are more likely to win as they have had a losing spin. The d’Alembert system follows scientific theory that “nature seeks equilibrium”.
Similar to the martingale, the D’Alembert System is usually applied using outside table on even money sections. This is preferred by some players to the martingale as it has a less aggressive betting scale if a losing bet is drawn. The system and betting pattern is very simple. After each loss, the bet is increased by 1 unit and after a win, the bet is then decreased by 1 unit. For example, a player starts with 20p on red, if the result is black; the player then increases to 30p, 40p, 50p and so on. If the player then wins at 50p stake, the bet is reduced back to 40p and the sequence continues.
mFortune view: For- This system suits players who prefer not to upscale rapidly like the martingale system. The D’Alembert System is designed to protect a player’s bankroll. Against- It is arguable that this system is mathematically flawed. The maths logic behind roulette from a theoretical perspective is that from 100 spins, red will be drawn 47.37% of the time and black will be drawn 47.37% of the time. Therefore, if red and black accumulates to equal 94.74% (47.37% x 2) of the total spins, then what happens the other 5.26% of the time? That 5.26% is the house edge, created by the green ’0′ as the D’Alembert system focuses on the outside of the table. The D’Alembert System does also rely on a player building up a winning sequence, i.e. more winning spins than losing spins at the right time.
Roulette System- Revell Roulette System
Overview: Use all your bankroll on an outside bet
The Revell Roulette system is based on one of the most famous roulette winning stories of all time. Ashley Revell sold everything he owned, travelled to vegas and put his entire life savings of $136,000 on 1 colour- red. Lucky for him and all the spectators, the roulette wheel spun red 7 and he doubled his money.
mFortune view:
For- The roulette wheel has no memory. The odds of hitting an outside number are exactly the same each and every spin. If you feel lucky, you could pick 1 colour, or even 1 number for a huge win.
Against- It’s definitely not a tactic for the faint hearted.

And so its back- BIG BROTHER 2011; love it or hate it- its got everybody talking about it! Bookmakers make the Jedward twins favourites at about 3-1, closely followed by Amy Childs at 4-1. Both Jedward and Amy have an army of followers so it could pay to stick to these two contestants. However, as we all know from previous BIG BROTHER episodes, very rarely do the favourites actually triumph. In fact, the only houesmate who was favourite on day 1 that went on to be the eventual winner was Pete, from BIG BROTHER 7.
Amy Childs who his infamous for her time on TOWIE (The only way is Essex) has already offered several vajazzle treatments to fellow housemates, whilst Jedward are running around the BIG BROTHER house like lunatics. The other contestants have not really come out of themselves yet, just ticking along nicely in the background. Kerry Katona also has bene given a secret task, which she failed and then as a punishment had to select 2 other housemates to be nominated for eviction.
There’s sure to be plenty of gossip from the house and plenty of talking points. Whose going to win- you decide!
Here is the Celebrity Big Brother Odds, and a short overview of the housemates:
Jedward – Odds: 3-1 favorites. Quirky Irish twins who are either loved or loathed. Shot to fame for their time on the Xfactor, but not for their singing abilities. Amy Childs- Odds: 4-1. The new Cheryl Cole? Amy is adored by male followers and will be a tough nut to beat.
Kerry Katona- Odd: 5-1. Does Kerry need an introduction? She is one of the best loved celebrities in the UK.
Bobby Sabel – Odds: 25-1. A relatively unknown in the UK, but has fronted the world biggest magazines. A bit of a looker, but will the housemates take to him?
Pamela Hasslehoff- Odds: 25-1. The ex wife of David Hasselhoff. Another unknown who probably owes her fame to her hubby, but she did appear in the baywatch episodes.
Lucien Layiscount- Odds: 20-1. Model, actor and ladies man? Can he win the Celeb BB- the bookies don’t think so….
Sally Bercow- Odds: 100-1. A speaker at the house of commons, Sally is known as an outspoken wife of controversial figure John Bercow. Not too well known in the ‘celebrity arena’ and she will do well to win over the Big Brother faithful
Darren Lyons-Odds: 100-1. A paparazzi, so will the other celebrity housemates take kindly to him? Australian and apparently full of confidence, has he something up his sleeve?
Paddy Doherty- Odds: 5-1. Shot to fame on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, paddy has already built up an army of followers. He could well take all the beating in the house.
Tara Reid- Odds: 10-1. American Pie sensation with a list of big name films on her CV. However, can she win over the UK fans now Amy Childs is in the house? Its going to be tough with the Amy Childs Factor.
MFortune view- its early days, but it looks to be between Kerry Katona, Jedward and Amy Childs, or will an outsider spoil the party?.
Frankel, the three year oldsuperstar trained by Sir Henry Cecil has officially been given the highest rating in the world, and duly been tagged one of the all time greats- but just how great is the Freaky Frankel?
Frankel, with form figures of 1111-1111 and who now has an official rating of 130 and various timeform ratings of 140+ is some way clear of his rivals in the horse racing world ratings. Indeed, Frankel is rated the best racehorse in the world. But, just how far can Frankel go? With private rumours circulating that this is the best horse Sir Henry Cecil has ever trained, which is some statement in itself, experts around the globe are asking whether can Frankel go on to reach an unprecedented heights of 135-140 and truly surpass the greats of Citation, Man ‘o’ War, Kelso and more recently Sea the Stars, Galileo an the legendry Montjeu and Dubai Millennium?
Frankel is expected to head to the group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Ascot which is over 1 mile, which William Hill expect Frankel to be sent off as short as 1-10 if his rivals drop out.
Frankel has a potent weapon, sheer speed facilitated through that long galloping long stride and if allowed to bowl out in front, surely no horse can live with him? But the key question is can Frankel keep up that pace for another 2 more furlongs? If Frankel is to beat all the best mile and a quarter horses around next year, he may have to learn to settle a little better and save some for the end of the race, or will he need to? Apart from the St James Palace Stakes 2011 at Royal Ascot, Frankel has barely come off the bridle and it will be a brave punter who takes him on.
Do you think Frankel is the best horse we have ever seen? How long can Frankel stay unbeaten? will he end up at next years Breeders Cup Classic?

To those that gamble on mobiles there are companies that are very important to the development of your favourite games. The mobile phone casino developer, Cozy Games, has just been nominated for the 2011 IGA Awards.
The IGA gives an award each year through Clever Duck Media Ltd. The award is an industry feather in the cap, as it is considered an honour and sets the recipients apart from others. International Gaming Awards go to the operators that provide the ultimate in gaming experiences for their customers.
Cozy Games has been in the business of developing games since 2005. Though they are relatively young in the casino game industry, they have been highly competitive and managed to stay abreast of what the veteran game experts know.
Apple iPhone casino games and Android casino games are available and number in the 40’s so far. They are focusing on the mobile game industry. They have high resolution games and ten of their games are even customizable. Social media players have begun to use their games and there are approximately 120,000 Facebook users so far. They signed up these 120,000 players in just a month’s time.
Cozy Games’ Business Development Manager, Jaydeep Chakravartty, said “We are extremely happy to be nominated for this prestigious award. The year has been especially great for Cozy Games.” He discussed the smart phone platform launched for iPhone that is an entire mobile casino suite. It will also work on Android, as it is compatible. The winners of the award will be announced at the London event in January 2011.
Mobile phone casino gambling is getting closer scrutiny in Australia. A survey is planned to be conducted in New South Wales in March of next year, 2011, and will focus on the impact of the mobile gambling industry and problem gambling in that area. The Responsible Gambling Fund will be contributing $250,000 in grant funds for the study project, which will involve some 10,000 respondents.
The study will also be investigating the popularity of different forms and avenues of gambling, targeting those which are the most popular and addictive. The gamblers’ habits will be studied over the course of a year. Players’ most popular mobile gambling products, the frequency with which they gamble, what they spend, and other demographics will all be investigated. The study will also take a close look at the specific days of the week when the most gambling takes place. Even more specific will be the exact hours at which they are likely to play gambling games and in which mode.
Since iPhone casino gambling is relatively new in the casino world, there are no specific studies that have been done on the exact impact of accessibility. Where mobile phone casinos are easy to access and real money can be won, there also exists a potential for not only existing gamblers to be tempted into playing, but for new gambling addictions to surface among those not likely to even visit a brick and mortar casino.
Kevin Greene, New South Wales Minister of Gaming and Racing, said that “It will also look at the impact of technology such as online gambling and the easy access afforded by mobile phones, other handheld devices, and laptops.”
A new report that focuses on the differences between mobile phone casino sites and standard casino play has been released by Mobile Gambling Buzz. The report is not necessarily complimentary when it comes to the findings.
The mobile industry is getting a big thumbs-up where technological advances are concerned, but the brick and mortar casinos are said to be far behind in mobile technology and software. For example, more than 800,000 slot machines in the USA are considered ‘technological dinosaurs’, as quoted by the report.
The report further claims that while physical slot machines run on software, technology-wise they are as many as seven years behind the mobile gaming industry. One of the biggest areas in which they are lagging behind is the networking element. Berkeley Labs has developed an ethernet network to run on slot machines to enable a speed of 100 Gbps, but the machines are running on old serial links, making the development virtually useless. The idea of network gambling in brick and mortar establishments has been talked about for many years, but is just now starting to develop.
The report focuses on the perspective of consumers that frequent casinos and those that play mobile iPhone casino games. The topics that are discussed are relevant to today’s changing market and will likely be read by gambling consumers, newcomers and insiders alike. As mobile gambling continues to be investigated, the casinos’ struggle to keep up with technology will continually be documented.
DigiTimes has just released information that the will be released in the spring of 2011. The new front facing camera is just one of the improvements that will be included in the new version of the iPad. Retina Display may or may not be included. A faster processor and bigger RAM capabilities promise to offer significant enhancements for the mobile phone casino gambling experience.
This version of the iPad is said to include the new Retina Display system, but that has yet to be verified. The Retina display provides a much sharper image and therefore, a more pleasant viewing experience. At this point it is also rumoured to include the new hardware, iOS4, which allows for the integration of iPhone casino games with the iPad. This will allow iPad users to choose from more mobile phone casino games to play on their devices.
The biggest impact of the new iPad will likely be seen in the social aspect of casino gaming on a mobile device. The faster processor will also allow for more power-intensive games to be played on the device. The previously sluggish reputation of the iPad for mobile gambling will therefore be enhanced with a much-needed speed boost. The new features could make the new iPad the best mobile device available to offer an unforgettable gaming experience. The Taiwanese manufacturer of the device claims that the shipping for the new product could begin as early as the end of February.
The new era of social gaming is here. SGN, a software development company in the US has announced their new offering for Apple Game Center Network. Social networkers that also love to play casino games on their mobile phone devices can now set up their own ‘MiniTycoon Casino’ and play with others within the social network.
The iPhone, the iPad, and the iPod Touch will offer the game to their users. The object of the game will be to create your own casino empire and the ‘winners’ will be the ones who can amass the most wealth through their casino empires. You make the decisions about what goes on in your iPhone casino.
The play begins with a start up casino that resides off the strip in Vegas. You can grow your empire to one that is successfully moved on to the main Las Vegas action areas. You can give your favourite high rollers perks and rewards to keep them playing at your casino, just like the real time casinos do. Decide on the games you offer, the limits, the themed look of your mobile phone casino and more.
This game will be similar to others on the social networks that have become very popular with their players. This one offers those that like to gamble a chance to visit your casino and help you build your MiniTycoon Casino empire. Check the Apple App Store for the game that will have you and your friends competing to see who can build the biggest, the best, and the most financially successful casino in Las Vegas.
‘Promises’, a treatment centre for addicts made famous for treating Robert Downey Jr, Lindsay Lohan, Ben Affleck and a host of other celebrities, has proven that no one – not even the most fortunate of individuals – is immune from addiction. Gamblers in particular are one group of people who have experienced a loss of control, when faced with the prospect of winning big.
The iPhone has a new app designed specifically for addictive situations. It’s called iPromise, and provides a relatively permanent solution to an addict’s gambling impulses. In a rehab facility the addict has no access to their addictions, but upon returning home there are a number of temptations to face. Using the newly developed app, users can use the software as an aid to helping them get through their everyday lives once they leave the rehab facility.
IPhone casino gamblers will someday, possibly soon, be able to download the app and use it to aid them in their road to controlling addiction. The app contains a list of contacts for the addict, allowing them to get in touch with sponsors, friends and other people who are instrumental in their own personal fight against addiction. Mobile phone casino gamblers will also be able to track achievements and milestones along the way.
Positive feedback, easy communication and solutions to addiction will no doubt be a helpful tool to those who have developed a gambling problem.
