Slot machines were originally known as one armed bandits, or more recently known as slots, fruit machines, poker machine, pokies, or as a gambling machine. A slot machines original name, A One Armed Bandit, gained its description because of two distinctive features; its lever on the side of the machine, known as the one arm, and as a ‘bandit’, which is slang often used by players who were not so lucky and lost! The first one armed bandit is believed to be invented by a Charlie Fey, of San Francisco, USA, in 1887. The first slot machine ever designed can still be viewed at the Liberty Belle Saloon & Restaurant in Reno, Nevada.

A Slot machine has three or more reels which will spin when the start or spin button is pressed, or the lever of the bandit has been pulled. Slot machines are one of the most popular gambling methods in a traditional casino, an online casino, and for a mobile casino.
